"Parth, Do you know Mehndi Hasan?"
"No Dhvanit, Who's he? Has he made one more rap of 'Kolaveri Di'?"
Dhvanit: "Ohho!! This generation!! Does not know anything, anyone beyond their choice. These guys don't know who Mehndi Hasan is, and tells us that we should listen to 'Kolaveri Di'!!!"
Well, now let me clear up some facts, here Dhvanit-the main RJ-is not much older, not more than 30 while Parth-his Junior- is in his early 20s.
But when Dhvanit blames "Today's Generation", it hurts-to GenX, to the Youngsters, to Me. Just for one reason, when we tells this so called older generation to try the music of our generation they tell us that 'IT'S NOT MUSIC' or 'U MUST CHANGE YOUR TASTE', but when it's about their music, every young and old INDIAN must know it, must like it.
No doubt Mehndi Hasan is a great Ghazal singer, but there are fair chances that people don't consider to listen a Ghazal in their early 20s or consider it as a very serious type of music.
And when we are talking about Ghazal and Raps, how many of those who are 'opposing' the modern music really have heard it?
Another example he gave was of "show off" of our generation. As per him anyone in their 20s asking for a pass of Saptak(An annual classical music festival taken place in Ahmedabad) want to be a 'celeb' in their group. Dear Dhvanit, can't that 20 something guy be a classical music fan? Can't he has knowledge of classical music? Can't he be learning classical since long?
It's the same like you just bitch about Younger Generation because they have something better to contribute to society. But then they forget that even their elders had bitched about them and they telling elder generation to 'understand' them.
Just one question to Dhvanit, would not he take a verbal fight with Amit Sayani, if Amitji would tell him to change the way Dhavnit compare the show?
